“Ascending Orbs: Corten Steel Outdoor Sculpture Inspired by Nature and Unity”

Ascending Orbs: Outdoor Sculpture Rooted in Nature.
Sculpture in the Wild: In Harmony with Nature
Last week, we relocated my outdoor sculpture Ascending Orbs to a new position beside the millstream near our home. This wild and untamed stretch of land, overgrown with brambles, tall grasses, and native trees, offered the perfect new setting for this Corten steel sculpture. The contrast between raw landscape and crisp geometric form is both striking and deeply peaceful.
The sculpture rises 3.6 meters from the earth, a quiet but powerful presence. Its vertical arrangement of five spheres mirrors both botanical growth and the strength of human connection. Whether you see a close-knit family, a growing seed, or a community supporting one another, the piece encourages interpretation and reflection.
Why Corten Steel? Durable Beauty for Outdoor Art
Ascending Orbs was fabricated at the Traditional Co in Leicestershire from corten steel, a material chosen for both its aesthetic and environmental properties. As it weathers, it forms a stable, rust-like patina that protects the sculpture from further corrosion, making it ideal for outdoor display in all seasons.
Corten’s rich, earthy tones also allow the sculpture to blend organically with natural surroundings, while still standing apart as a refined, intentional form.
A Symbol of Unity in Uncertain Times
We live in turbulent times. Amid global unrest, climate anxiety, and social fragmentation, there is increasing value in art that speaks to peace, resilience, and togetherness.
Ascending Orbs doesn’t demand attention; instead, it offers space for quiet reflection. The rising orbs can be read as stages of growth, tiers of connection, or generations held in balance. A silent symbol of hope.
Experience the Sculpture In Person
If you’re drawn to experiencing sculpture in natural settings, I invite you to see Ascending Orbs for yourself. Visits can be arranged by appointment, giving you space to wander through the area, observe the piece in context, and take time to engage with the art at your own pace.
