This original pastel drawing was made on loacation “En plein air” at Arcadia Gardens, Sheffield in November 2023.
It is a golden time in the garden; the grasses are tall and explode in all directions, waving in the wind. The late flowering plants are dusky and subtle and the space is flooded with warm autumn light. The mood is slightly melancholy as the splendid Autumn display looks toward the oncoming winter. In the air there is a poignant blend of beauty and transience.
