The subject was a small portion of a drawing called “Autumn Tree” made directly from nature.
In the painting the colours and gestural marks recorded in the original drawing are recreated and amplified.
The title comes from the song by The Mamas & the Papas, California Dreamin’ which I had in my head while I was working.
