The soft low sunlight and the waving foliage on this Autumn day had the effect of melting forms to a blurry haze of movement, colour and light. I was careful not to add too much detail to the final layers of this painting so that areas remained undefined and smudgy. The Liquidambar tree was a blaze of colour, glowing in the sunlight as if it was on fire. Adding less detailed information enhances the effect of softness and light.
