‘Redhill Garden Study’
Original Pastel drawing on paper, 60cm x 84cm UNFRAMED
Where do paintings begin? 🤔
Often, it starts with a moment like this - a vibrant summer garden, a sketchbook in hand, and the urge to capture nature as it lives and breathes.
This original pastel drawing was made at the Prairie garden at Redhill Lodge Gardens in Rutland, featuring striking Globe thistles, Aster, fiery red Persicara, soft Oat grass, and delicate Verbena.
It became the foundation for several oil paintings which I made at a later date, but there’s something raw and immediate in this piece that stands on its own.
